DJI Osmo Action 3
When the chance finally came up to upgrade from the old Sony Action Cams to something new I started doing my research. I knew I wanted something small and compact in the form of an Action Camera but I look at the GoPro much like I look at Apple Products or Landcruisers. Over Rated and over priced. That does not mean I wasn't willing to buy one if they fitted my needs perfectly.
After reading a bunch of reviews and watching head to head comparison videos on YouTube I opted for the cheaper but seemingly better, DJI Osmo Action 3 camera. So far I am not disappointed what so ever. In fact this camera has surprised me with more features than I originally thought it had and most of the reviews actually show. While most reviews will put the cameras head to head showing the basic settings and video quality in 1080p, 2.7k and 4k many of them do not

discuss things more than video quality and image stabilisation. The Osmo Action 3 also features a range of additional features such as full manual mode for the still image camera and time-lapse modes. various levels of image stabilisation including their Horizon Levelling and Rock Steady modes. Magnetic base and cage attachment points meaning you can sue any metal surface to hold your camera. The quick release mounting system is also a great feature although I strongly suggest buying more mounting brackets. This simply saves having to unscrew them all the time to swap between different points, I worked this out during the Watagan Exploration video with Matt as I had several different spots I wanted to attach my camera but with only 3 mounting brackets I had to continuously unscrew them. I now have several more brackets.
The DJI Osmo Action 3 is also compatible with many of the accessories from the older Action 2 and the newer Action 4 cameras with a range of DJI and Aftermarket accessories available for them including cages that provide more protection and other features. The Action 3 is waterproof up to 16m without a waterproof case or I believe 60m with the case. Both the Action 3 and Action 4 also come in packs such as the one I purchased being the Adventure Pack. This included the heavy duty Selfie Stick, 2 additional batteries and a charging pack that can charge 3 batteries at a time. I opted for one Adventure Pack and one stand alone camera pack.
